Coal has been a consistent fuel for the production of electrical power through the ages and
will continue to be for future generations due to the large reserves to be found around the
world. In the drive to produce low cost power and other products, Polar Energy has
developed technology to construct modular Integrated Gas Combined Cycle (IGCC) facilities
that utilize low cost coal (lignite) for the production of steam and synthesis gas for driving
steam and gas turbine generators.
The philosophy of using coal has been taken a step further with the application of existing
technologies to remove contaminates and sulfur from the synthesis gas and to use the clean
gas for the production of methanol and ultra clean gasoline and diesel. Polar is a leader in the
field of applying these technologies to modular construction, thus combining low cost fuels
with low cost facility construction techniques.
