Polar Energy was an early player in the development of small cogeneration facilities in the US
meeting PURPA efficiency standards for hospitals, sewage treatment plants and other
institutions. Polar Energy has taken the concept of cogeneration facilities to greater heights in recent years with the design of large scale combined cycle gas turbine installations
producing direct and steam driven electrical generation, fresh water, heat for the
regasification of LNG and facility heating.
Coal derived fuels have also taken a front seat in
the realm of cogeneration through gasification and the production of synthesis gas for the
combined production of electricity using Integrated Gas Combined Cycle (IGCC) technology
together with the simultaneous production of clean liquids from syn gas.
